My favorite character is Eragon from the book "Eragon." This is because Eragon endures so much hardship and change throughout the first book. He ends up goring from a simple farm boy to being the only hope for a land fighting against an evil king. At first Eragon does not know what a mysterious blue stone he found in a forest is, but since it looks cool he could probably sell it for a few nights rations. But after failing to sell it to the local butcher he takes it home for the night and sleeps. In the middle of the night Eragon is woken up to the "stone" cracking open and a baby dragon pops out. Suddenly Eragon is thrust into a magical world of dwarfs, elves, and yes of course, dragons. Eragon endures loss, love, heart ache, and the responsibility of carrying the fate of a nation on his shoulders. What makes Eragon my favorite character is the fact that he does not let this new-found life change him in a bad way For example when Eragon finds out about his powers of being a dragon rider he does not act like a celebirty. Instead, he becomes curious to learn about all the cultures in this new world. Another reason why Eragon does not change for the worst over the course of the story is because after loosing his uncle does not use his powers to cause harm. Instead he uses his powers to help people. Eragon changes over the course of the story because at the beginning because he matures and understands the meaning of life. Eragon and I are close because we both had to endure the loss of someone close to us at a young age.
Nice job Chris!
